JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY:
The position holder works closely with the Lead Technician to ensure that all tasks assigned to the team of Technicians are performed at the Company’s/Brands standard and repair times. Strict adherence to
operating and administrative guidelines including the Company’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment System (HSSE) is required. It is necessary that the position holder becomes familiar with the Company’s Dealer Management System /CDK and also participate and complete mandatory On- Line Training. The position holder must display high levels of professionalism in the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In conjunction with the Lead Technician plans daily activities to ensure that the workshop area is well organized and managed efficiently.
Review Electronic Repair Orders ( ERO’s) and raise challenges, including but not limited to, major repairs, flagged vehicles and return jobs to the Lead Technician.
Ensure that all concerns/repairs listed on the ERO’s are resolved before the vehicles are road tested.
Assist with the road testing of vehicles to ensure all repairs are completed.
Assist Technicians in conducting diagnostics.
Provide regular updates to the Service Advisors so that they can inform customers on the status of repairs.
Inform the Service Advisors no later than 2:30 p.m each day of repairs requiring additional time.
Based on feedback received from the Service Advisors, communicates with customers who are not satisfied with time lines to complete repairs.
Assist in preparing estimates.
Approve requisitions for spare parts.
Communicate with the Service Manager on the unavailability spare parts.
Review reports on all work in progress, specifically jobs over three days and take corrective action as required.
Implement in conjunction with the HSSE Manager, HSSE standards including the use of PP&E and work towards achieving same.
In conjunction with the Service Manager develops KPI’s and conduct performance appraisals in keeping with Company’s guidelines.
Manage the performance assessment of the Technicians in keeping with KPI’s.
Assist with the process of Auto Technicians completing On Line Training within the allocated time.
Participate and completes On- Line mandatory training within the allocated time.
Perform other duties associated with the position.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of Five CXC subjects including English Language and Mathematics.
Certification as an A class Automobile Technician from a recognized institution is an asset.
Sound knowledge of motor vehicle systems.
Proficient in the full suite of Micro Soft Office.
Minimum of Seven (7) years demonstrated experience, in a fast paced workshop environment.
Demonstrated listening, oral and writing skills.
Supervisory and problem solving skills.
A good mix of the above.
