A regional consulting agency is currently seeking a Credit Risk Manager who will be accountable for the entire credit granting process that falls within Corporate, Retail and commercial lending.
The CRM Head is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective maintenance of the portfolio of loans at an acceptable level of risk, by exercising sound credit judgment in approving and recommending applications, monitoring credit quality and conditions, thereby ensuring loan losses are minimized.
The position is also responsible for making recommendations to update and develop the bank’s credit policy to ensure the sound and sustainable growth of the Bank’s credit portfolio.
S/he is responsible for the assessment and adjudication of Corporate and Commercial credit proposals that fall within approval limits, including Guarantee Bonds.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The Credit Risk Manager is accountable to the Chief Executive Officer on matters relating to the effective management of the Credit Risk throughout the Bank and the measurement of credit risk. The objective of the CRM Head, guided by the Chief Executive Officer, is to provide expert management of the credit portfolio and timely adjudication of credit proposals to enable the Bank to meet its performance objectives. This will be done within the parameters established as part of strategies, authorities and Bank-wide limits established by Executive Management.
• The role will be responsible for instilling sound lending and structuring principles in the administration of the bank’s diverse corporate loan portfolio. This mandate will be executed in accordance with the Bank’s established risk appetite and credit lending policies, as well as the regulatory and prudential lending guidelines applicable in which the Bank operates.
• Reviewing and approval of credit proposals within approval limits and maintaining a good balance between returns and risk exposure. Assisting with the achievement of loan/asset quality targets for the Bank’s lending portfolio by ensuring the adherence to the Bank’s credit risk policies, guidelines and procedures and decision support tools.
• Reviewing amalgamated Excess Reports, Staff Lending Reports, amalgamated New Lending’s, Refinance Reports and reports to Bank of Guyana.
• Leading a team of credit adjudicators to ensure high standard of credit quality of the portfolio by using various credit assessment tools. Engaging the development, implementation, review and monitoring of various credit programs and provide training and coaching to continuously upgrade the competency of team members
• Review and develop the Bank’s approval policies including compliance to it. Identifying and escalating to the Executive any instances of non-compliance with lending authorities, credit risk policy, guidelines and procedures as credit oversight mandates.
• Oversight over Remedial Department.
• Serve on external committees where applicable
REQUIREMENTS
• Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related disciplines.
• Minimum of 8 years in a senior Credit role in a Bank or similar financial institution.
• An expert understanding of Bank lending policies and procedures, financial analysis, risk assessment techniques, credit structuring, collateral and security documentation and registration, collection, related legislation and accounting practices.
